The Baker Hughes plant in Bari (Nuovo Pignone ed), thanks to continuous investments, which in recent years amounted to about 50 million eurosis Baker Hughes’ largest production site in Italy outside of Tuscany, and with its approximately 300 employees it is today a global center of excellence for the design, construction and testing of centrifugal pumps for applications in the energy and industrial sector, also allowing the generation of an armature made up of about 50 companies in the Region for a total value of approximately 50 million euros. Today the technologies produced and developed in Bari are exported all over the world, and also applied to the transport of water, to the sequestration of CO2 and to the production of hydrogen.

The Bari plant has also implemented a series of training initiatives, in collaboration with the universities (Universities (PoliBa, UniBa, UniLe), ITS Cuccovillo and local high schools, which have allowed the inclusion of numerous young people. Cooperation with Porta Futuro, the job center of the city, in the selection and identification of candidates has also been extremely important.

The most significant case is the Baker Hughes Academy, a dual first-level apprenticeship program that involved 40 local talents with classroom training, on-the-job training and operational experience. The project started at the end of 2019, is currently in its second edition, and has led to 100% placement for participants, within the Baker Hughes site in Bari, in other Italian plants of the company or with job opportunities in third-party companies.

Finally, the space dedicated to research is remarkable, with the installation of a new laboratory dedicated to pumps, the Baker Hughes Pump Lab, in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Bari, which involves 20 talents, as well as 40 senior engineers, for the development of innovative machines.

“The Bari plant is one of the three Baker Hughes plants in the South, together with those of Vibo Valentia and Casavatore: in Bari and more generally in Puglia we found high-level skills, as well as a Regional Administration that believed in our projects, giving life to a fruitful collaboration between public and private able to generate benefits for all parties ”

Inaugurated in 1962 and spread over an area of 220,000 square meters, the Bari plant is Baker Hughes’ largest settlement outside of Tuscany. Since 2005, the site has been a global center of excellence for the production of centrifugal pumps, valves and gas treatment systems within Baker Hughes.

“Today we are one of the longest-running companies in the industrial landscape of Bari: we have achieved this goal by maintaining high competitiveness and investing in talent and innovation, such as the acquisition of the license for the production of centrifugal pumps for water transport systems. This was also possible thanks to the precious support of the Puglia Region through the Program Contracts “
